End of Identity Crisis To Direct Selling Industry: FDSA President A P Reddy
While welcoming the government for issuing model guidelines to regulate direct selling business in India, Federation of Direct Selling Association (FDSA) termed this development as ‘The END of IDENTITY CRISIS’ for the Direct Selling industry.
The industry is presently going through turbulent times and the distributor’s morale is very low across the country, due to the prevailing ambiguity regarding the industry’s legal stand which was under question since long. With the issuance of model guidelines, the government gave a clarity on the industry’s legal stand and removed the prevailing confusion.
In a Press Release issued by Mr. A P Reddy, President, FDSA, which represents over 6 crore distributors associated throughout the country, also expressed his happiness on creation of a mechanism in all the States and UTs to monitor/supervise the activities of direct sellers and thanked the Union government for taking the initiation and issuing the model guidelines.
The FDSA President Mr. A P Reddy, who was also present amongst the other stakeholders during various consultations held with Consumer Affairs Ministry further said that the move is a milestone in formulating a win-win situation to both the consumers and the companies and appreciated the government for providing regulatory clarifications.
Mr. Reddy, reiterated the support of FDSA to the government in all matters pertaining to the direct selling sector, which provides lakhs of direct sellers Self-employment opportunity.
“Since the last five years, FDSA had put in tremendous efforts in attracting the government to address the various problems faced by the industry. In this process, we at FDSA, left no stone unturned and as a result, Model Guidelines for Direct Selling industry have finally been announced. We thank FICCI and other organisations who helped us in this mission”, he said.
The direct selling industry is a reflection of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi initiated Digital India, Start-up India, Make-In India, Skill India and Women Empowerment. The Model Guidelines will be an yard stick to identify genuine direct selling companies and help consumers to keep from illegal pyramid schemes.
