SUCESSFULLY COMPLTED 2 DAYS FREE HEALTH AWARENESS CAMP
Hyderabad: Saradamba Institute of Medical Sciences conducted a two day health awareness camp for the residents of Hyderabad, Himayathnagar, Musheerabad, Koti in association with Sri Balaji Polyclinic & Diagnostic Center.
Emphasis was laid on early detection of life style disorders like diabetes and hypertension. As part of community screening, various laboratory tests were performed like HbA1c, Hemogram, Thyroid tests, Lipid Profile along with kidney function tests for free.
This camp was organised as a part of corporate social responsibility by Saradamba Institute of Medical Sciences to create health awareness and promote early detection of chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes in the general population.
The camp was attended by Dr Raghuram Pusukuru, Medical Director of SIMS Hospital and Dr Wajahat Ali, family physician. The camp was coordinated by Ganesh, Ratnam & Jehangir.
Dr Raghuram emphasised on early detection and adequate control of hypertension and diabetes with proper diet as the main stay of treatment and thereby decreasing the disease burden in the society and to avoid chronic complications leading to morbidity.
During the two day camp about 220 patients were examined, counselled and were educated regrading their health condition. A free consultation by Dietician, General Physician and a Diabetologist were done for all the patients and appropriate medications were dispensed for free during the camp.
Dr Wajahat CEO of the organisation said generally health camps are conducted for a day but we planned it for two days – one of which is a Sunday. Due to this, many who will not be able to make it on the first day, can visit the camp the next day. Also, patients asked to undergo blood tests will be offered free consultation till they achieve adequate control of their life style disorders. He said sedentary lifestyle was the culprit and people have to actively engage in regular physical activity of at least 30 minutes in a day to avoid complications from Diabetes & Hypertension.
He also said that, they will be establishing a foundation for under privileged patients which will emphasise on daily diet and exercise awareness along with distributing medications on a periodic basis. Dr Raghuram and Dr Wajahat emphasised the need for affordable healthcare as the need of the hour for tackling health care emergencies in the society.
