Governor urged the IRCS to strategically plan to meet the growing demands for its services

TheGovernor,  Jishnu Dev Varma, interacted with the Chairpersons of District Branches and members of the State Managing Committee of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad, today.

During the session, Telangana State IRCS Chairman, Ajay Mishra, IAS (Retd.), provided an overview of the programs and initiatives currently being implemented by the State Branch of IRCS. The District Chairpersons and State Managing Committee members introduced themselves and shared details of the activities being carried out in their respective districts.

Addressing the gathering, the  Governor, who also serves as the State President of the Telangana State Indian Red Cross Society, expressed his delight at being a part of the IRCS family. He commended the State Branch for its commendable efforts, including organizing blood donation camps, operating centers for the elderly and orphaned, establishing yoga centers, conducting medical camps for the poor and elderly, and running Jan Aushadhi medical stores.

The Governor emphasized the need to further expand the activities of the IRCS and assured the members of his full support in their endeavors. He stressed the importance of regular interactions with the IRCS to address any challenges and underscored the critical role of awareness in enhancing the effectiveness of services. He urged the IRCS to strategically plan to meet the growing demands for its services.

In his remarks, the Governor notably stated, “Blood is the symbol of democracy,” highlighting the importance of increasing blood collection efforts to serve those in need. He also encouraged the Telangana State Branch to extend guidance to the IRCS branches in Tripura and the Northeastern States to enhance their activities.

On this occasion, a poster related to the Anti-Narcotic Movement, an initiative by the IRCS, was unveiled.

The interaction was attended by the Principal Secretary to the Governor,  Burra Venkatesham, I.A.S., Telangana State IRCS Chairman,  Ajay Mishra, IAS (Retd.), District Branch Chairpersons, State Managing Committee members, senior functionaries of the IRCS, and officers of Raj Bhavan.
