TSCOST selects 13 best projects for National Children’s Science Congress 2016 at the State Level Event
The State Level Event of 24th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) organized by Telangana State Council of Science & Technology, Hyderabad concluded here today at Narayana Group of Schools, Shankarapally Campus, Patancheru Mandal, Sanga Reddy District.
The Chief Guest Sri Manicka Raj Kannan, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Sangareddy District wished the Child Scientist best of luck in the National Level Event to be held at Baramati, Maharashtra State, during 27-31 December 2016.
Sri Manicka Raj Kannan in his address, said that the city planning of Indus Valley dating back to 3500 BC reflects the civilization of India that existed long before that of the developed nations. The invention of Zero and its use in Mathematics & Space Sciences by the Indian Scientists demonstrated Indian Intellectual abilities long back. He observed that India could not sustain this scientific temper existed because of some degree of intrusion of superstitions. This apart, India could have been in the forefront of Science & Technology. He inspired the students towards developing scientific temper and urged them to make Telangana State & India proud by posting remarkable achievements in scientific and technological advancements.
Presiding over the State Level function, Er. Y. Nagesh Kumar, Member Secretary, TSCOST informed that a total of 84 projects were presented by the Child Scientists at the State Level Event, 13 projects were selected (list enclosed) for National Level Event of 24th NCSC – 2016. The State Government has taken an initiative, in the form of NCSC, for developing the innate skills and talents of the students for depicting their scientific temper and outlook., he said. He also thanked the Management of Narayana Group of Schools, Shankarapally Campus, Patancheru Mandal, Sanga Reddy District for hosting the event.
Dr. B. Sesikeran, Former Director, National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, the Honorary Guest of the event, congratulated the child scientists for their participation in the State Level NCSC. He added that the Nations and Companies who have invested more in Science have progressed well when compared other Nations and companies. Scientific approach and methods are very important in the developmental process. The Government should concentrate on developing good science teachers in order to develop the Nation.
Smt. L. Chandra Kala, District Educational Officer, Sangareddy District emphasized that teachers should always be lively in the minds of their students. NCSC develops problem solving abilities among the students with scientific approach and these abilities will extend to their lives. She called upon the child scientists to take all steps to meet the scientists and academicians regularly in order to upgrade their knowledge levels in their subjects of interest.
Sri Surendra Naidu, Deputy General Manager, Narayana Group of Schools, Shankarapally Campus, Patancheru Mandal, Sanga Reddy District expressed happiness about organizing the event in their Institution and wished good luck to all the child scientists participating in this State Level Event and advised them to keep moving utilizing each and every opportunity for fine tuning their careers.
Dr. Chand Pasha, State Academic Coordinator, NCSC informed that several new approaches have been introduced this year in the aspects of training of teachers on the new focal theme, evaluation mechanism at district and state level and also with regard to mentoring of projects including that of online registration of NCSC projects. Further, he suggested that the students should take up simple projects on which they can work in a very concerted manner and generate solutions for the same.
Dr. C.V.Ramakrishna, Project Officer, TSCOST, Hyderabad announced the names of the selected 13 projects for the National Event.
