‘Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2016’ successfully proceeded to its sixth day, after receiving enormous appreciation and applauds day-on-day, highlighting the diverse culture, handicrafts, cuisines and delicacies from the North Central Zone Cultural Centre (Allahabad). Magnificent stage- performances showcasing regional talent, artists and their artworks brought eternal grandeur and charm to the day, making it a prosperous event.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the festival that initially began on 15th October, 2016 will continue to bring nonstop delight and excitement for the guests till 24th October, 2016 at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Janpath, New Delhi.

Key highlights of the day, presented by the North Central Zone Cultural Centre (Allahabad).

  • ManglaCharan’– conceptualised and presented by Dr.Vipin Mishra
  • BadhaiLoknitya’ – presented by Shri ArvindYadav and team
  • SanskaarGeet’– presented byMs.Prabha Singh
  • Chhapeli’- Loknitya from Uttrakhand
  • ‘Farwahi’ – presented by Shri Mukesh Kumar
  • ‘Mayur dance’ and ‘Foolon ki Holi’– presented by Ms.Barkha Singh

 

To elevate the excitement further, Shri Manoj Tiwari, a popular Bhojpuri actor &singer and now aBJP MP from North East Delhi, performed live on stage. He well connected and interacted with the viewers from the stage, engaging them in the show. In- return, the audience cheered and much-admired his act, filled with entertainment, dance, music and talent. The powerful show served as a visual treat for his fans.

Shri Manohar Parikar, the Union Defence Minister graced the occasion by his esteemed presence as the Chief Guest. He expressed his appreciation for excellent efforts taken by the Ministry of Culture which successfully fructified in the form of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2016. He mentioned “Such an event is unique both in terms of diversity & impact and effectively takes the message of unity and diversity for the nation and especially for the country’s youth”.Alongside, the Programme was Chaired by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture and Tourism

The festival has gained massive prominence online by connecting with numerous people from different cities and towns, across the world. To initiate the event as a confluence of culture and Digital India, daily cultural performances are broadcasted live through webcast on www.rsmindia2016.in/live. Besides this, an exclusive mobile application- ‘RSM2016’, available on Google play store delivers notifications on real- time basis, to update viewers on each cultural act, performance or guest, bringing the event more close to people via technology.  Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2016 social campaign achieved new milestone by touching more than 5.5 crores of audience over different online platforms.

Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2016, while the festival is promoting culture and heritage of India, it is also encouraging visitors and guests, to support the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ by maintaining cleanliness within the surroundings. Some visitors have quoted that Swatchta has been an integral part of our rich cultural heritage since Vedic era and completely blended with our cultural traditions and practices. Various banners that have been erected across the IGNCA campus along with young volunteers, play a major role to continuously educate the visitors on the importance of cleanliness.

  • 8 Aangans that will demonstrate and sale unique products
  • 45 + food stalls with traditional master chefs showcasing distinctive Indian food platter
  • Rangoli making workshop for school children
  • Poster making competition
  • 25 + documentaries highlighting practices, activities art forms and heritage.
