Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the prestigious Rythu Bandhu scheme to distribute Rs 4000 per acre cheques and pattadar pass books in Karimnagar on May 10, Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali said today. The program will be starting on May 10 and continue till 17 and if necessary two or three more days will be extended Ali said. Talking to press persons at Secretariat here on Tuesday, Elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth distribution of the cheques and pattadar pass books to the beneficiaries he said. Ali claimed that the scheme is first of its kind in the country and the farmers will be reprieved from the loan related problems. Stating that it is the brain child of the chief minister the cheques of Rs 8000 in two spells will go a long way he said that other states are eagerly watching the scheme to be launched which may replicate.
He also said that 58.06 lakhs cheques and pass books were printed for 140.20 cr acres of land which is estimated at Rs. 5392.29 cr against the land of 134.81 cr acres. He said that remaining 1.92 lakh cheques costing Rs. 215.80 cr on an extent of 5.39 lakh acres will also be distributed among beneficiaries.
