IMJU Demands pension of Rs. 30,000/-per month for senior journalists to be paid by the Central Government

New Delhi, 26th August,2023: IMJU Demands pension of Rs. 30,000/-per month for senior journalists to be paid by the Central Government.The 10th annual meeting of the Indian Media Journalists’ Union (IMJU) was held today at Press Club, New Delhi. IMJU started its journey from Sri Lanka on 15-08-2013. Bala Bhaskar, President, IMJU addressed the gathering and stated that they had helped many senior journalists get pension in various states. He urged that while journalism is a service, it is by large neglected and while success stories like the Mangalyaan reached the common citizen because of media whether print or visual, the other 3 estates are getting salary, pension and other emoluments. But 4th Pillar or 4th estate of our Samvidhan gets nothing and is neglected. He also stressed that government should focus on journalists covering rural areas. He raised the demand for pension of Rs. 30,000/- per month, to be paid by the Central Government. Journalists perform the invaluable service of monitoring all the other 3 arms of the state and giving wise coverage to the work done or left to be done. He requested the Central Government to announce a pension scheme for senior journalists, depending on seniority. He also touched upon the dark side of journalism namely, media management and the how news breaks out simultaneously across the world.
He also paid rich tributes to IMJU Vice president late Ram Gopal Upadhyay.
Representatives of IMJU from 15 states participated in the meeting including
IMJU Chairman  Bala Bhaskar, Former Parliamentarian  Mahabal Mishra, Coordinator Delhi Government  Vasudev Mishra, Delhi Sakha Vice President  Karan Singh Bhuchal, and the National vice President  Rohit Sen.
