Dr. MCR HRD Institute Rolls out a Training Program for Elected Representatives of Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh
Dr MCR HRD Institute, Government of Telangana has rolled out a three-day Training Program, from 24-26 October, 2016 for Elected Representatives of Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh as part of Individual Capacity Building Programme for AMRUT scheme. Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, Ex-Mayor, and Counsellors of Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh are attending the Program
Sri Vinod K Agrawal, IAS, Director General, Dr MCR HRD Institute & E O Spl. Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana, in an interactive session with the elected representatives, said that the mind-boggling increase in urbanization has aggravated the already existing problems relating to water supply, sewerage, transport, sanitation, roads, etc. in the urban areas. “Continuous capacity building of elected representatives is an absolute necessity to empower them to find enduring solutions to these problems”, he stated. Mr. Agrawal added that the requirements for extensive capacity building of the elected representatives are extremely high on account of their huge numbers from across the country.
Mayor Mr. Arun Sood said that the innovative measures initiated by the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh can be a source of inspiration for its counterparts from across the country. He underlined the need for continuous interactions among the elected representatives and officials from the Municipal Corporations from across the country in order to learn from their respective best practices. The Senior Deputy Mayor, Ex-Mayor and the Councillors actively interacted on various issues concerning Urban Development.
In addition to classroom inputs on Urban Issues, Challenges, Reforms, and Best Practices, the elected representatives will be taken to Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd, Jawaharnagar Solid Waste Management Project, and Meeseva Centres for e-Gov Service delivery. They will also have an interactive session with Dr. P. Janardhan Reddy, IAS, Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Professor Ms. V Deepa Nair, Course Coordinator said that Dr. MCR HRD Institute, which has been empanelled by the Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India, under AMRUT, has lined up a series of capacity building programs throughout 2016-’17 for the elected representatives and officials of Urban Local Bodies of the Municipal Corporations from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Madhya Pradesh.
