The Agriculture Secretary C. parthasarathi during his address at the state level coordination committee meeting on crop insurance which was held in Secretariat D- block , conference hall today has said that the committee has decided the cutoff dates for payment of Rabi crop insurance for the year 2016-17.
He further said that under the Prime Minister Fasal Bhima Yojana the paddy, jowar, maize, Bengal gram, green gram, black gram, sunflower, chilli, onion are covered and under weather based crops, mango crop is covered. He said that the cut off dates for the loanee and non-loanee farmers for payment of premium towards crop insurance for maize, Bengal gram and mango is 14th December, 2016 and for remaining crops its 31stDecember, 2016.
The major crops in the state identified are paddy in 18 districts, Bengal gram 4 districts, maize-3, jowar-1, groundnut-4. He said that the government has divided the districts into 3 clusters and allotted to two insurance companies. He said that Cluster 1 consists of adilabad, komarambheem, nirmal, manchiriyal, nizamabad, kamareddy, medak, sangareddy, siddipet districts are covered by Bajaj Alliance General Insurance Company, cluster 2 and 3 are allotted to Chola MS General Insurance Company. Cluster 2 consists of karimnagar, peddapalli, jagityal, sirisilla, Warangal (U), Warangal (R), Jangam, mahabubabad, jayashankar, mahabubnagar, jogulamba, nagarkurnool, wanaparthy. And cluster 3 contains khammam, badradri, nalgonda, suryapet, yadadri, rangareddy, vikarabad, medchal.
The meeting was attended by Agriculture commissioner M. Jagan Mohan, Representatives from RBI, NABARD, NSSO, Economics department, Horticulture, Sugars department, SLBC.
