With heavy rains lashing Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh’s in particular Guntur district, Hon’ble Union Minister Sri M Venkaiah Naidu along with Dr Kamenani Srinivas, Hon’ble Health Minister, Govt of Andhra Pradesh conducted an aerial survey of the area and promised all help from the central government.
The continuous rains have caused severe damage to the standing crops in Guntur district.
The paddy crop, which is either ready for harvest or have been harvested already, are now in water due to heavy rains in the region from last two days.
While the standing crop fell to the ground and is entirely submerged in water, the harvested stack is submerged posing a threat of paddy getting dis coloured.
Standing crops, mostly paddy, chilli, turmeric and cotton, suffered extensive damage in over 41,000 hectares of Guntur district.
Flew over Peddanandipadu Gurazala, Macherla and other villages in the region inspecting the damaged crops and also the overflowing rivulets and streams.
Spoke to Guntur collector to ensure that all necessary relief like food and drinking water are provided to the rain-hit areas.
After Full-scale enumeration of the losses is completed soon and affected farmers will be compensated. Central team will visit state after receiving report from the state government all necessary assistance will be provided by the Central government of India
