
As per the directions of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar IAS spoke to the Army officials and requested them to provide assistance in the flood affected Bhadradri district . Accordingly 101 men of whom 68 from the Infantry, 10 Medical professionals and 23 Engineers have left for the flood ravaged Bhadradri district. The above troops will be capable of operating as 5 independent teams.
The Tourism department has dispatched four special boats along with men to Bhadradri district to assist in rescue and relief operations. Fire department has also dispatched seven boats along with 210 life jackets and life boys.
The government has also deputed senior officer, the MD of Singareni Colleries N Sridhar as special officer to monitor the relief operations in the district. The infrastructure available with the Singareni Colleries will be pressed into service at Bhadrachalam for flood relief operations.
Chief Secretary today reviewed the flood situation and asked the officials to ensure that there is no loss of life due to the floods. Chief Secretary is continuously monitoring the situation on an hourly basis.
*With the Godavari rising to alarming level at Bhadrachalam, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed the Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar IAS to continuously monitor the situation. Accordingly, Chief Secretary held a Teleconference with Collector and SP of Bhadradri Kothagudem district along with senior irrigation officials and took stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures being taken up in the district.
During the teleconference Minister for Transport Puvvada Ajay Kumar thanked the Chief Minister for continuously monitoring the situation and providing timely support by way of men and material. He stated that the NDRF, Army and Singareni and other rescue teams dispatched to the district will effectively deliver the services if they are stationed at Bhadrachalm and Kothagudem towns.
Chief Secretary directed that the administration should be geared up to tackle the situation even if the flood reaches 80 feet. People living in the villages and areas which are likely to get inundated have to be evacuated and shifted to special camps. 10 NDRF teams, 5 teams from the Army and rescue team from Singareni is already stationed at Bhadrachalam. Chief Secretary reiterated that the main focus should be to ensure that there is no loss of human life during the floods. Effective measures should also be taken to see that there is no major loss to property. He asked the Collector to take necessary steps to provide basic amenities in all the relief camps. The Airforce helicopter will be stationed at ITC Bhadrachalam tonight. 4 NDRF teams will reach Bhadrachalam tonight. Four senior RDOs have been appointed to support the district administration in the relief and rescue operations. Boats, buses and trucks are also being sent to Bhadrachalam.
DGP Mahender Reddy informed that senior Police officials have been entrusted the job to coordinate and monitor the relief and rescue operations.
Secretary Disaster Management Rahul Bojja, Secretary PR&RD Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Director Prohibition and Excise Sarfaraz Ahmad, Director CCLA Rajat Kumar Saini, Director PR&RD M.Hanumatha Rao and other senior officials participated in the teleconference.
