T4 Global Network has selected Telangana Social Welfare Residential School, Chevella, to present a topic on ‘Democratic Education System – Functioning of Freedom Schools’, at the T4 Global Network Grassroots Education Conference is scheduled to be held in October, 2020, on a virtual platform. T4 Global network. was founded by Vikas Pota which is working in the fields of education, international development, and technology sectors. The network has selected 100 schools across the world to showcase their innovative ideas/programs aimed at shaping the leaders of tomorrow and transforming lives students .
Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, Telangana Social and Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Societies (TSWREI & TTWREIS) has remarked that it’s a matter of great pride and joy that TSWRS Chevella freedom school students would be sharing their experiences on a global platform involving teachers, students and educational policy makers from different parts of the world. Dr RS Praveen Kumar said, in a first of its kind in the government education sector in India, the TSWREI and TTWREI Societies launched freedom schools to give more voice to students in classroom and beyond and provide a democratic space for the students to explore, play, reflect and experience the joy of learning.
TSWREI and TTWREI Societies had launched freedom schools in the academic year 2019-20 with an objective of breaking the traditional forms education like structured classrooms, time bound class periods, examinations, passive and rote learning. Dr RS Praveen Kumar, while thanking the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and minister for social welfare Koppula Eshwar and minister for tribal welfare Satyavathi Rathod said that social and tribal welfare residential societies have been committed for providing quality and equitable education to needy children under the government’s KG-PG Mission. The TSWREIS is working towards creating a global talent pool from the marginalized sections of the society, focussing on skills in areas that are in demand. He further remarked that, perhaps Telangana Social and Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions have become the first government educational institutions in the country to launch online classes on various platforms soon after the announcement of lock-down in March, 2020, so that poor students do not lag behind in studies.
