అహోబిలం… గరుడాళ్వార్
నిత్య సూరులులలో అగ్రగణ్యుడు,భగవద్దాసులలో శ్రేష్ఠుడు అయిన గరుడ భగవానుని అవతార దినంగా భావింపపడుతున్న పుణ్య “గరుడ పంచమి” ఈ రోజు.శ్రీ వైష్ణవ సంప్రదాయంలో పేరిట తిరువడిగా , విష్ణు కైంకర్య రత్నముగా కీర్తింపబడిన గరుడాళ్వార్ కు అహోబిల క్షేత్రానికి ఎంతో గొప్ప సంబంధం ఉంది .
బ్రహ్మాణ్డ పురాణాంతర్గత అహోబిల క్షేత్ర మహత్యం ప్రకారం,కశ్యప ప్రజాపతి ఆజ్ఞ మేరకు గరుడ్మంతుడు అహోబిల క్షేత్రంలో స్వామిని గురించి ఘోర తపస్సు ఆచరిస్తాడు. అప్పుడు ప్రత్యక్షమైన నరసింహ స్వామి, గరుడ్మంతునికి నృసింహ అవతార ఘట్టాలను దర్శింప చేస్తాడు.అదియే నేటి జ్వాల నారసింహ స్వామి వారి సన్నిధి.
స్వామి వద్ద గరుడ్మంతుడు రెండు వరాలు కోరతాడు.
1.తాను తపస్సు చేసిన కొండకు తన పేరుతో పిలవాలన్నది మొదటి వారం.

కొండకు “గరుడాద్రి”అని పేరు.జ్వాల నరసింహ స్వామి సన్నిధికి కుడివైపున అంజలి ముద్రతో కూర్చున్న గరుడ్మంతుని ఆకారంలో ఉన్న పర్వతమది.
2.తానే స్వామికి ముఖ్యమైన వాహనంగా ఉండాలన్నది రెండో వరం.
అందుకే అహోబిల క్షేత్రంలో బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలలో చివరిరోజు గరుడ వాహనం.స్వామి గరుడ వాహనం మీద వేంచేసి ఉన్నప్పుడే ధ్వజావరోహణం చేస్తారు.
గరుడ పంచమి సందర్భంగా శ్రీ అహోబిలేశ్వరుల దివ్య శ్రీ సన్నిధిలో , ఉదయం సన్నిధి గరుడాళ్వార్ కు నవకలశ పంచామృతాభిషేకం నిర్వహించారు.అనంతరం స్వామి వారి పాదాల చెంత ఉంచబడిన పట్టువస్త్రాలు,ఇతర బహుమానాలను గరుడ్మంతునికి సమర్పించారు.
Ahobilam…. Garudaalwar
Today is Garuda pancha mi.thiruvavathaara dinam of sri Garuda bhagavan.Garuda has a special significance in srivaishnava sampradayam.
Garuda has unique connection with Ahobila kshetram.it is in this kshetram garuda bhagavan did tapas for the Lord to appear on the instructions of kasyapa prajaapathi.
Pleased with the devotion of Garudaalwar,lord Ahobila narasimha appeared before him and showed him the narasimha avataram.this place is Jwala narasimha shrine in ahobilam.
Garuda asked for two varam(boons)with the Lord….
1.that the mountain on which he performed tapas should be called by his name.so the mountain on which garuda did tapas is called as GARUDAADRI.this mountain can be seen even today in ahobilam ,right to the jwala narasimha shrine.it appears as if garuda is sitting with anjali posture and waiting for Lords orders.
2.that he should Lords pradhana vahanam.that is why, in ahobilam,garuda vahanam utsavam is celebrated on the last day of brahmothsavam unlike other divya desam where garudothsavam is celebrated on 3rd or 5th day of brahmothsavam.
In this regard,today as a part of garuda panchami celebrations,nava kalasa panchaamrutha abhishekam is performed to sannidhi garudaalwaar.later pattuvastrams kept at the lotus feets of Prahladavarada and other bahumanams are offered to garudaalwar….
